In line with our value of equity, we are committed to ensuring that everyone who shares their time, experience and expertise as part of a Catalyst-supported activity is supported to actively participate in our work.
In line with our value of interdependence, we are also conscious of the need to minimise our impact on the natural environment, and we are committed to taking this into consideration when making decisions about spending money. This applies to decisions we make about how we travel, the companies we buy from, and the products we buy.
Our approach is also informed by our desire to use Catalyst’s resources as effectively as possible. We ask everyone to make the best decisions they can when choosing travel and accommodation options, to help preserve Catalyst’s financial resources for the future.
The majority of our activities are carried out remotely, but there will be times when we come together in person. In these circumstances, we aim to balance the need to travel with our commitment to minimise our impact on the natural environment, and reasonable efforts should be taken to avoid high carbon forms of transport.
This means, if possible:
In line with our value of equity, we understand that there will always be exceptions. We know that time constraints make some forms of travel more difficult, and for some journeys car travel may prove to be considerably less expensive or significantly less time intensive than public transport, making it a more effective use of time. In these instances, we encourage sharing lifts if possible.
We also recognise that some people may find certain types of travel unsuitable. For example, anyone with a disability requiring an accessible vehicle, or anyone with a long term health condition who may be adversely impacted by using public transport, or who may need to travel standard premium or first class when travelling by train.
